Beijing, China, photographed by Paolo Nespoli27 March 2013Education Office of ESA European students offer the opportunity to attend the International Astronautical Congress (IAC). IAC's this year will be held from 23 to 27 September in Beijing.
The theme of the 64th edition of the ICC is "promoting space development for the benefit of mankind".
The annual Conference is the main annual meeting point for professionals in the space and provides participating students with once in a lifetime opportunity to create much valuable contacts with professionals and students from around the world.
During the Congress students can interact with experts, listen to their views on the future of the space, and learn more about the latest developments in the space industry. At the same time students are encouraged to actively contribute to the Congress with their own research for the space community. Some will have an opportunity to make formal presentations to technical sessions of the Congress, alongside the greatest experts of space which can often provide advice and valuable feedback.
Students selected by ESA will be sponsored in order to cover their tuition and give a contribution to travel and accommodation costs.
Student engagement program attracts primarily science and engineering students, often specializing in space studies. However, space is a truly interdisciplinary field. The program therefore admits a large number of students studying related topics, such as business, law or medicine. As such there are no requirements concerning the subject of the studied degree.

In order to be eligible for selection, students must have submitted a summary of the CEC, the deadline for sponsorship of the ESA application is April 30, 2013.

Student engagement IAC program is an initiative of Board of education for the International (ISEB) space. Launched in 1999 by ESA, NASA, JAXA, CNES and CSA, the program is now well established, and it offers students interested in space a unique combination of special talks, discussions and opportunities of networking in addition to the numerous technical sessions of the ICC itself.
To date, more than 2,000 students took part in this programme, facilitate a transfer of expertise of experienced professionals of young enthusiastic space generation.
